Description:

Chesapeake Tavern has an exciting opportunity for a passionate Sous Chef. If you have a love for the culinary arts and want to take your career to the next level, then Chesapeake Tavern could be for you! Chesapeake Tavern is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join the team in Long Valley, NJ.

 

We are seeking someone with experience as a Sous Chef for at least 5 years operating a full service kitchen.

Responsibilities:

  • Reports to Executive Chef

  • Prepare all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner

  • Follow recipes and presentation specifications

  • Operate standard kitchen equipment safety and efficiently

  • Clean and maintain station in practicing good safety and sanitation

  • Assist with the cleaning and organization of kitchen and equipment

  • Restock items as needed throughout the shift

  • Adhere to all sanitation and food production codes

  • Schedule shifts properly to ensure staffing levels meets guests demands

  • Supervise line, prep and dish washing staff

  • Participate in hiring process

  • Works with front of house to ensure food quality, ticket times, etc.

  • Prepare monthly inventory and assist with food ordering

  • Participate in management and team meetings

Compensation

$55,000-$65,000

Description:

Front of House manager who is dedicated to customer service and guest satisfaction. We have two locations, Chesapeake Tavern in Long Valley, NJ and St. Moritz Grill and Bar in Sparta, NJ. If you are someone who can multitask and perform well in a high volume environment as well as mentor and develop staff, and keep a positive can-do personality- we should talk!

 

We are seeking someone with at least 2 years experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in hiring and training staff

  • Ensure guest satisfaction, resolve conflicts and complaints as they arise

  • Contribute to the positive company culture and continue to cultivate regulars

  • Communicate with HR and accounting regarding invoicing and payroll

  • Double check all orders that come in

  • Knowledge of the food menu and table numbers

  • Collect payments whether in cash or credit

  • Issue refunds, and price adjustments

  • Strong communication and time management skills

  • Manages and oversees scheduling, adjusts schedules on the fly when needed

  • Handles disciplining and terminating employees in accordance with restaurant policy

  • Preforms daily health inspections and oversees food handling

  • Frequent quality control checks on food

  • Ensure compliance in accordance with capacity and liquor regulations

  • Conducts daily checks of restaurant and equipment to ensure compliance with health, safety, food handling and hygiene standards.

  • Schedules routine maintenance and service on equipment, calls in repairs as needed.

  • Takes ownership on tasks and sees them through from start to finish.

  • A love for teaching and mentoring team members to have great hospitality careers through education

  • Experience managing a 200+ seat restaurant with multiple bars and events

Compensation

$55,000-$65,000

We need someone who can maintain a clean kitchen, as well as prep items and store them properly. We are looking for someone with excellent communication and teamwork skills, as well as a passion for food!

 

We are seeking someone with at least 1 year experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies

  • Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)

  • Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff

  • Answer, report and follow executive or sous chef’s instructions

  • Clean up station and take care of leftover food

  • Stock inventory appropriately

  • Comply with sanitation regulations and safety standards

  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers

$16 - $21 / hour
